Sophie Balaam
I started Pilates over 10 years ago when I was struggling with work related stress and needed some time for myself. After going to classes regularly I started to feel like I could cope better with stressful situations. The exercises helped me gain body awareness; and taught me to breathe properly which made such a difference to reducing my anxiety.
Over time I noticed positive changes in my posture - I was now standing tall and had improved flexibility - I was always someone who couldn't touch my toes! When I missed a session, I noticed it in my body which helped motivate me to attend weekly classes and reap the benefits. My love of the exercises inspired me to train as a teacher with Body Control Pilates. I believe that everyone can benefit from Pilates, and my aim is to pass on what I’ve learnt so people can feel better physically and emotionally.
